The horizons of Psychology are expanding in Indian Universities for the last two decades. Having departed from Philosophy, the Science of Psychology is developing slowly but steadily in its scope and gaining a sound footing. In the seventies and eighties, the importance of Experimental Psychology and Laboratories of Psychology has been recognized and a significantly fastest development is taking place. However, it is felt that very few experimental studies are being conducted by researchers in comparison to survey studies and the use of interview as well as questionnaire methods. In view of the fact that in other developed countries like the U. S. A., the U. K., and Germany, more and more experimental studies have been reported. This book. " PERSONALITY THROUGH PERCEPTION " which is a report of an experiment conducted under a strictly controlled laboratory situation is a modest step in the right direction. I was one of the most fortunate students of Prof. A. S. Patel, whose teaching and research methods and grasp of the subject of Experimental Psychology in the class at the Department of Psychology, M. S. University of Baroda became a valuable asset. During my research work between 1967 and 1974. I acquired a better perspective. Prof. Patel is the real source of inspiration for me in writing this book based on the research work carried out as a part of my doctoral research.
