Rhythmic Gymnastics, one of the most aesthetic, elegant, and beautiful sports, came into existence in the 1960s. The First World Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics was organized in Budapest in 1963 and it became part of the Olympic Games in 1984, part of Commonwealth Games in 1990, and of Asian Games in 1974. In India, the First National Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship was organized in 1989 at Kottayam. It is getting popular in India. The young girls are taking to this beautiful sport. There is no literature available for teaching and coaching Rhythmic Gymnastics in India. The book " Fundamentals of Rhythmic Gymnastics "is the first ever book of its kind written by Indian experts. The book is divided into eleven chapters, Le. , the historical development of Rhythmic Gymnastics, development and measurement of Rhythmic Gymnastics equipment, definition and explanation of various technical terms used in Rhythmic Gymnastics, basic rules and regulation of the Sport, and techniques of the various basic elements of leaps/jump, balances, pivots, flexibility, waves, floor elements, and apparatus and other elements. The book is fully illustrated for the benefit of students, teachers, and coaches, to understand the basics of Rhythmic Gymnastics . The book will be quite beneficial for Physical Education Teachers, and Coaches, to teach, and for the young girls to learn the technique of the basic Rhythmic Gymnastics movements. The authors believe that this book will be widely accepted by readers and will help in promoting and developing Rhythmic Gymnastics in India.
