MEASUREMENTS AND EVALUATION IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION (STUDY OF KHO-KHO GAME)

Kho - Kho is a game, that originated in India. This game is played by many Asian countries. It has also been included in the curriculum of Physical Education in Indian schools. Therefore, evaluation of players ' performance in this game is necessary to form a standard Kho - Kho team. However, it is amazing to note that - to - date, there are no standard norms available for evaluating the performance of Kho - Kho players. Moreover, no standard Skill Test in Kho - Kho is available to us. Therefore, we cannot predict the potentiality of Kho - Kho players with sufficient accuracy. The present investigation could tackle all the above-stated problems and scientifically develop and standardize the norms of the Kho - Kho Skill Test. The grading system has been explicitly mentioned so that one can evaluate the status of players ' performance and can very well predict the potentiality of Kho - Kho players. This Skill Test has the potential to select good players to form a standard Kho - Kho team with sufficient reliability. The Test is, without doubt, valid. The results obtained in this study were promising and another believes that the findings will be of great use in promoting this game.
