DRUG ADDICTION A PSYCHO-SOCIAL STUDY OF YOUTH

Drug addiction is one of the most burning problems not only in our country but also a problem of the whole world. In other words, it is a problem for each one and everyone The rate of addiction in our society, particularly in the younger generation, is alarming us and pointing out that some serious thought should be given to controlling and chalking out and putting in operation a plan of action for de-addiction. Both governments, as well as NGO agencies, should do some concrete work on Drug abuse. The present attempt is a comprehensive review of the literature in the field along with research findings in proper perspective, so as to have clear conceptual clarity of the problem of drug addiction. It has also tried to compare the personality profiles of addiction and non-addicts and studied the psycho-social factors responsible for using drugs among youth.
