AN INTRODUCTION TO SPORT AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

This text is designed to help you, the reader, develop a personal philosophy of sport and physical education. In the process, you will come to understand the meaning and significance of a developing profession that is currently called sport and physical education in the United States and typically designated as physical and health education in Canada. I was hesitant to call the book An Introduction to Sport and Physical Education Philosophy or to use the term " philosophy " at all. I say this because I want to encourage our profession and us as professionals to develop our own terminology as much as possible. You don't usually hear people referring to a philosophy of chemistry ( a discipline, or a philosophy of medicine ( a profession ).
