A TO Z BADMINTON

Author: Dr. M. k. Singh

At first glance, badminton might seem like an easy game. Two or four players use small, light rackets to hit a feathered cork across a net on a court that resembles a tennis court. But the cork is called a shuttlecock, or a bird can travel as fast as 110 miles per hour. Then it quickly slows down and dips towards the ground. If your conception of badminton is a quiet backyard barbecue game, you have never seen the pros in action. While this team sport is certainly quieter than bowling and less violent than football, players can work up quite a sweat. If it's a good aerobic workout you are looking for, step out onto the badminton court. Faster than a game of tennis, players can burn 600 to 1,000 calories an hour.
